About Teresa

About Teresa

Just to tell you a little bit about myself and how I became a counsellor.

Teresa Kitt - Perth Counselling

In 1989, I emigrated to Australia and continued to nurse.  However, as much as I enjoyed nursing and all aspects of health education, I felt increasingly drawn towards people’s psychological problems. As a consequence I completed my Bachelor of Counselling at Notre Dame University in Fremantle and later trained to work with couples and families. As I became involved in the world of psychotherapy and counselling, I was able to clearly see how the quality of people’s relationships can affect their mental health and vice versa and the impact of this on their daily lives and interactions. As both a counsellor and a mental health nurse I have extensive experiece working with clients struggling with all kinds of issues such as addiction, depression, anxiety, separation, infidelity and the consequences of these on their relationships. I believe that meaningful relationships are central to living a contented and meaningful life.
